Wireless LAN

Wireless Networking Technology has exploded in the past few years.  Wireless equipment based on the 802.11b and faster 802.11a and 802.11g standards allow you to roam about a building freely without the tether of wires while remaining connected to your network and the Internet.  The cost of this technology has dropped rapidly and is completely within the reach of home, small business and corporate users. 

Possible uses for this technology include supervisors and warehouse personnel  who need to carry laptops while roaming a plant floor, employees who need to visit multiple offices within a building and retain access to the network, doctors utilizing wireless enabled PDA's to remotely access patient data and drug information while at the patient's bedside, briefing rooms, conference rooms or other areas where LAN's need to be extended temporarily, and areas where physical cabling is either impossible or cost prohibitive.   Especially if you have laptop computers in your organization, wireless LAN technology can offer significant convenience, efficiency and collaboration benefits.
