Whether your needs are as minimal as 3 computers sharing an Internet connection, printer and files or a hundred workstations and multiple servers spread across a large geographical area, Linear B can design a network that fits your needs and your budget.   If your current set up consist of a peer to peer network of 5 or more computers, migrating to a client - server configuration will likely save money in the long run.  Client - server networks facilitate central management of client software installation, anti-virus, backup, security and network use monitoring.  Labor to perform these tasks individually on more than a few computers quickly eats up any cost savings as opposed to investing in the software and hardware required for a traditional client - server model.

As an example of the advantages of the client-server model, imagine a network where all the users Desktop files and My Documents files are stored on the server.  Whenever a user logs on to any machine in the network regardless of location, his or her Desktop and My Documents folder are the same.  If you use Microsoft Exchange, the user's Outlook e-mail program can be automatically configured at any computer as soon as the user logs in eliminating the need to configure each user's Outlook settings manually.  Such a configuration allows you to more easily share a limited number of computers between many users thus lowering your total cost of ownership and improving convenience and efficiency for your employees.   Client - server networks tend to be faster, more secure and easier to manage.

We specialize in Microsoft Server operating systems.  Microsoft's Windows 2003 Server has a proven track record and reputation as Microsoft's most dependable, stable and manageable server ever.  For this reason, Microsoft has garnered an ever increasing majority of the small business market.  Many companies are able to take advantage of a Microsoft product called Small Business Server 2003 (SBS2003).  SBS bundles Windows 2003 Server, Exchange 2003 e-mail Server, Outlook 2003 e-mail client, SQL 2000 Database Server, ISA Server, fax and modem sharing applications and system monitoring features all for a starting price that is less than any 2 of these programs sold separately.   This is a great way for a small office to get a full featured network set up quickly and economically.

Regardless of the type of network you decide upon, you can rest assured knowing that it will remain stable, reliable and increase productivity.  We will work closely with you to design a solution that serves your needs without breaking the bank.
